What We Believe

Our Mission

The mission of Lost Creek United Methodist is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This statement comes from the United Methodist Book of Discipline, and we believe it is a statement that connects our congregation to the worldwide Methodist movement.

Core Beliefs

As a United Methodist church, we align doctrinally with the Articles of Religion contained in the United Methodist Book of Discipline. These articles originated in the 16th century with Martin Luther and were modified and adapted in the 18th century by John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement.
We express our faith through the classic Creeds of the Christian Church, including the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. We begin worship every Sunday by reciting the Apostles' Creed.

Our "Four Commitments"

What we believe is related to our sense of mission and vision. We are intentional about efforts to make and grow thriving disciples. We conclude each worship service by reminding ourselves of four basic commitments that we consider to be critical benchmarks for a thriving and growing disciple of Jesus Christ.

SAVIOR

A relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior

SPIRIT

An infilling of the Holy Spirit

STORY

To be engaged in telling your story

SERVE

To be actively involved in at least one area of ministry offered by our church

Although these four commitments do not completely describe the Christian journey, we are convinced that they are critical landmarks to deepen our relationship with Jesus.
