What We Do

Mission is a core value for Lost Creek. We encourage our members to be disciples at all points in their life, not just when they are in church doing "church work". We want our members to serve God's Kingdom in whatever way they feel called to do so.

Local Opportunities

Many members of Lost Creek extend their "mission field" into the community by volunteering at Relay for Life, hospice care, Stillwater Medical Center, foster parenting, CASA, and by serving on the local city council or school board. Lost Creek offers financial support to many United Methodist ministries and missions through denominational apportionments. We also extend a wide range of benevolence ministries to our community, including emergency financial assistance. Check out some of ways our members serve locally.

Weekly Community Drive-Thru Meals

We recently began this new food ministry out of our Oak Park Event Venue & Lodging in Perkins. Each Tuesday during the month, from 5-7pm, everyone in the community is welcome to come grab a wonderful meal.

Christmas Missions

Christmas is always a time of increased mission work. Each year, Lost Creek uses the Angel Tree program to provide gifts for 40 children in the area with incarcerated parents. Lost Creek also participates in the Cookson Hills Program. Lost Creek and our various ministries purchase household items, appliances, toiletries, and children's toys to send to Cookson Hills to be distributed. During Christmastime, members of Lost Creek make soup and snack packages for the homebound of the community and the church.

Rise Against Hunger

Each year during Lent, Lost Creek unites with folks from Stillwater First UMC, Highland Park UMC, and Eden Chapel to raise funds for Stop Hunger Now, a worldwide hunger relief agency. This year, we were able to raise over $25,000 to provide meals for 100,000 people. Every May we gather with these churches for a "packaging day" in which we package meals for this cause. The packing day this year is scheduled for Sunday, May 5.

Distant Opportunities

Our "Distant Mission" program is extensive. Each year, nearly two-thirds of the adult population of Lost Creek will travel somewhere to engage in mission work. The foundation of our distant mission work is a long-term missional commitment to work in Alaska and Belize. Besides these large trip initiatives, members will also travel on teams to many other places. Lost Creek members have traveled to many places such as Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, and Israel.

Alaska Mission

Each year during the summer Lost Creek will send a mission team to Girdwood, Alaska. While there, the mission team will complete projects throughout the town in conjunction with our partner church, Girdwood United Methodist. In the past the mission team has painted, built cabins, replaced roofs, cooked for the community, helped at Vacation Bible Study, and fixed the town sign. The team hosts monthly fundraiser lunches during the Fall and Spring to prepare for their trip.

Belize Mission

Similar to the Alaska Mission, Lost Creek will send a team to Belize every summer. While there, the team will help out with service projects that are needed at the various Methodist churches in the area. The team also tries to help hold a Vacation Bible School in multiple churches during their time there. It isn't just adults that have gone on the Belize Mission, many youth and children have helped throughout the years.

Rio Bravo Mission

Lost Creek has a few members who travel to Rio Bravo, Mexico every year for construction projects. In 2024 they built two casitas, or little homes, for families in the area. The dates for the mission are normally in February and March. For more information on this mission, contact the church office.

Sager Brown Depot

The Sager Brown Depot is located in Baldwin, Louisiana and is the center for the UMCOR Disaster Response Relief. Each year, volunteers will package $4 million in disaster relief supplies to be used with in the United States. Lost Creek plans to return on a trip to Sager Brown in 2025. For more information, reach out to the church office.
